list of them stored somewhere, readable by Chrome, stored on the computer.  
This list
would then potentially be readable by anyone else, either by extracting it  
by a
modification to Chrome code or by writing a compatible reader (it's open  
source,
after all), exposing the list of websites deemed secret.

well, maybe the websites themselves are not secret, but the things you do  
on those
sites are the secret. For example if I want to buy a secret gift for  
someone in
amazon, I don't need to keep the amazon website a secret, but just my  
traces on that
site secret.
