Comment #43 by qwer1304: OK, made some more progress: 1.Booted Windows into Safe Mode with Networking 2.Managed to recreate the problem as per post 42 above 3.Noticed that eventhough I was running in Safe Mode I still had Folder Guide in the shell extension. 4.Uninstalled Folder Guide and voile - problem's gone!!!
