Comment #13 on issue 16787 by olhe.meu: Java Plugin not working
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=16787

OS: Debian Sid.
$ uname -srvmo
Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 #1 SMP Sat Aug 15 18:09:19 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Chromium AMD64 package from the Ubuntu daily build of the Chromium browser:
chromium-browser (4.0.203.0~svn20090822r24081-0ubuntu1~ucd1~jaunty) jaunty

JRE and Mozilla plugin:
AMD64 packages from the official Debian repository, version 6-15-1.

$ ls -l ~/.mozilla/plugins/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 49 Ago 22 17:48 libnpjp2.so ->
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so

When accessing a java applet
(http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml, in
this case) the browser returns no applet response from the GUI. But, in the
console:

$ chromium-browser --enable-plugins
Didn't find JVM under /home/olh/.mozilla/plugins
chromium-browser: ../../../../src/plugin/solaris/plugin2/common/JavaVM.c:104:
InitializeJVM: Assertiva `foundJVM' falhou.

Also, the Mozilla plugin appear in the about:plugins page:

Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_15
File name: libnpjp2.so
The next generation Java plug-in for Mozilla browsers.

The same applet is running OK in Iceweasel (3.0.12-1, official Debian AMD64
repository), with the same plugin; in the same system :)
