OK. I have switched off bookmark sync on each of my 3 computers that I use. I then opened the bookmark manager. On one of my the computers I exported the bookmarks to an html document. I deleted all the bookmarks on all three computers. I went back to my Google Docs file listing. My bookmarks are still there. I still cannot delete a bookmark from there - "sorry, you can't delete items from read-only sources". I can however, delete documents from my Google Docs list that I put there in the traditional way of using Google Docs. I was thinking of waiting 24 hours so that servers and programs can all get a chance to set themselves to the new reality (perhaps I am giving it too much time). Then I would switch on bookmark syncing again. I expect that Google Docs will populate my bookmarks. I will get the duplicates all over again and that I will then be able to delete them from the bookmark manager and that the deletes will sync with Google Docs' repository so that when I bring on other machines they will not get a bazillion duplicates.
