The right place to put MathML support, I think, would be in WebKit. That way Safari and other browsers benefit too.
The WebKit project has an open bug indicating they would like support: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3251 They also have a working patch for some preliminary support, it seems: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15302 You may want to bring this up on the webkit-dev mailing list.
