I have same problem. Compaq NW8240 laptop running XP Pro-SP3 and Acrobat Reader 9.0.0 12 June 2008.
About: plugin reports : File name: nppdf32.dll Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape I hope there's an imminent solution. Note that to disable the "display pdf in browser" option, it appears in the last menu of "Document" then "Accessibility Setup Assistant" on Version 9 my Acrobat Reader for XP.
