I had a similar problem in Windows Vista, chrome would crash every time I tried to run it (as soon as I clicked the icon). I tried to uninstall, and that executable would crash as well. Went back to the website and downloaded it again and installed it on top of the current copy and everything seems to be working fine now.
On a side note, COD5 WaW started crashing around the same time, but it's uninstaller still worked...
