I've written a bookmarklet for Chrome that adds an autoscroll functionality. I know the latest Dev builds have the autoscroll feature already, but allow me to suggest an alternative.
Rather then me explaining how it works, why not just try it out yourself. You can find the bookmarklet here: http://bookmarklets.awardspace.com/ If your not familiar with bookmarklets already, all you need to do is run this by either entering into the address bar or bookmarking it then clicking on the bookmark. I like this approach because it seems more modern in a way, more iPhone like. One of the benefits of this approach to scrolling is that I can, with enough force, scroll the the top or bottom of the page quite speedily. To me, it just feels more natural. I'm not saying that the Team should use my exact code (I don't know if they use javascript in their code base). They of course could reference to it, if they'd like. I would suggest that they should work out some quirks that might be in my script. I'm posting this here to hear what your thoughts are on this. Would you prefer this, and why? Why wouldn't you like this? Your opinion is much appreciated.
