Dear Dave (and others), You are of course right. It is not and could not be Marsh. It is, I now believe, in the hand of Miss Anning (Churchill's secretary from 1902). A small consolation for me is that her hand is quite similar to Marsh's. A small lesson for me is that I should not answer these emails while away from the office and obvious reference sources.
