Have you looked on ABEbooks or Mark's site recently? If I am going to spend $3 -5k for a couple of books I'm not going to be reading them. As I understand the situation, this has been going on for years and has become a standing joke. Even by respected collectors. Maybe most people don't care about all the scholarly twists and turns the editor is doing and would just like a finished product they have been promised and couldn't aford otherwise.
