It was an eerie feeling to get a letter from the late grandson of Winston S.
Churchill this week reminding me that I needed to renew my membership to the
Churchill Centre. I have had the man on my mind off and on since I heard of
his passing. Last night, after a friendly game of poker, I drove a district
attorney to his home in center Philadelphia. On the way, he struck up a
conversation on Churchill. Back in 1999, Churchill spoke at his college. One
of the professors asked Churchill what he thought would be the greatest
challenge for the free world in the next 50 years. He responded that he
believed radical Islam would divide the world in the next five to ten years.
My friend telling the story joked that Churchills have a way of predicting
the future.

For all his faults, Winston S. Churchill saw what was coming. That can be
said about the grandfather and the grandson.
