I believe that customers with support contracts can get patches to the current stable release. Patches are pretty expensive for us - typically several times as expensive as the fix to the development release, I suspect. Users without support contracts are limited to the stable releases and the bleeding edge.
Or at least that's my understanding from inside Development. I don't have a lot to do with the Support and Sustaining end, where patches come from.
