:-) NDW means "Neue Deutsche Welle" (Nena 99 Luftballons,
music from the 80's) of course there are Umlaute (äüö).
better to say: should be. normally i have not problems
with umlaute. but in this folder they are broken.

My bet is that these umlaut-ed characters are what's causing the problem. I am not personally familiar with all of the issues surrounding non-ASCII file names; perhaps somebody more familiar will jump in. My impression is that if you use UTF-8 everywhere, it works; I don't know about configurations where you use some other encoding (e.g. 8859-1).

Non utf8 characters could be the cause of the problem.
The fix for the following CR (delivered in build 128) may help.
The fix implemented in this CR is to SKIP non utf8 filenames in
directory listings.

CR 6888836 Not listing all files in a directory of a CIFS share in Windows XP

If you upgrade to build 128 and still see the same (or related) problem we
will investigate further.
