I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it won't even display

No other devices, nor even a different cable available right now. I
don't think it's the cable, because until just a few moments ago, it was
at least displaying the video as it tried to capture, if not saving it.
The problem affects dvgrab also, although dvgrab never tries to display
anything, but there is no mention with dvgrab of where the file goes if
it does save it.
