What would motivate developers?

My opinion: more developers, clear priorities, and better communication.
Of course, these are general concepts and not limited to Cinelerra. And
not original thoughts on my part.

How these can be applied to Cinelerra, listed in order of effectiveness
(again, my opinion):

1. Enable votes in Bugzilla. Votes are currently only partly enabled: I
can query for votes, but I can't vote for anything (incidentally, all
bugs currently have zero votes).

2. Display the open bugs with most votes on cvs.cinelerra.org. Send the
query over to bugs and put the results in an iframe.

3. Include non-coding tasks in bugs such as doc enhancements or tutorial
requests on the wiki. Project management with Bugzilla, geez, that's
awful ... but it could be the best tool besides e-mail for collective
collaboration.

4. Show recent bugs fixed on cvs.cinelerra.org (iframe again). Purpose
is similar to the SVN Commit History page, but is a different view on
slightly different data.

5. User tips on cvs.cinelerra.org: Move these entirely to a user tips
page on the wiki and display that page in a frame.

6. Integrate bounty with Bugzilla and display current list in an iframe.
Perhaps with a keyword and the amount in the bug summary. This
suggestion is last because I'm not sure how effective a motivator bounty
is... but it might become more effective if it were combined with votes.

My $0.02,
Craig.
