You are wrong :)

JACK is targeted at audio production and concentrates on low latency.
It's also good for passing audio between applications.

Pulseaudio comes from the "desktop" side and is built around allowing a
bunch of applications to make *pling* or play some music.

But Pulseaudio either is or will be able to use JACK as backend,
hopefully allowing for peaceful coexistence of *pling*-makers and audio
production ;)
