A completely useless rendering stack that does runtime binding of formats
etc. What you want can perfectly be achieved with a 'normal' commandline
program that hooks up to ffmpeg.

In that way you are also able to cut scenes, directly dub them to dvd. But
the use for a programma like Lumiera comes in with composition, stuff you
cannot do with normal tools and are hard to do by commandline interfaces.

For straightforward editing my bet is on dvswitch. Because it is probably
the first tool that allows the use to do Linear Editing :)
