Hi U.G.
I tried to play your file into Cinelerra and it crashes too. I tried to
change the format (Cinelerra prefer quicktime format) (with ffmpeg -i
yourfile.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy testfile.mov) and it crashes too.
However with that change you can get the sound into Cinelerra.
I noted that smplayer couldn't play the file but mplayer from the
command line could.
I noted that pitivi could play the file (without sounds though) but at
lower resolution.
I noted that xmovie (http://www.heroinewarrior.com/xmovie.php3) could
play the file but I have no images (maybe cause of the old video driver?
... well I don't know.)
So my guess is: My Computer is too slow and Cinelerra tend to read the
file entirely. Even with "Play every frames" uncheck it can't.
Maybe Adams is right: "You need a double dual core Opteron with 4 Gig
RAM" to work correctly with these types of medias.
Can I know the configuration of your machine? I have a Sempron 3000+
1,8GHz 1,2 Gio of RAM.
So my conclusion is : If your computer is slow like mine, You should
consider to work with proxy files
(http://cvs.cinelerra.org/docs/wiki/doku.php?id=english_manual:cinelerra_cv_en_21#hdv_1080i_editing_using_proxy_files)
if you want to use Cinelerra. And if you really want to work with hd
format. Well, I don't know how it works but it seems to be the way to go.
Good luck U.G.
