IMO below Tom'S tip using kino is one of the best way to convert .dv into the best format you need,

I tried this.  It is great for doing frame-by-frame editing. However, I find that the "play" function causes the movie to go too fast in Kino. Is there a setting to make it go in slow motion? I wish that there was a control like that on Avidemix.
