That would be really strange route...to install Windows in order to use Linux under VMPlayer. :-) Fortunately, there is VirtualBox, as suggested, for FreeBSD and I can run Cinelerra under it, but now, being on FreeBSD, I'll try to do video editing with OpenShot hoping Lumiera won't be Linux-only.
