Yes, we CNAME the device.[sub].domain.com to the correct management interface (whatever it is) on the device.
So sometimes we manage via loopback, sometimes via dedicated management port, and sometimes via another interface (gig1/48). We automated a tool to generate all the DNS records for our interfaces, and just track which interface should be used to manage the device and CNAME to it.
