We use cable management bars and route all cables to the left and right thus ensuring that we don't have cables blocking the removal of a failed module or a module that needs swapping out for upgrade. Would recommend wider racks for such locations . You have more space to each side and often containment channels

You can get cable management bars that rack mount on top of the 6500 chassis rack ears. These are literally a steel bar with 2 radiused 90* bends, the ends of which are welded to "rack ears".
