Stan,
The 6509 can run the Catalyst OS or Catalyst IOS.
The IOS for Catalyst 6500 is relatively new and follows the standard IOS command
structure.
However most people still use the Catalyst OS as the IOS does not yet have all the
functionality of Catalyst OS or the field exposure. Any configuration change is made
immediately and is saved automatically. There is no concept of startup or running
configurations.
If the "clear config all" command is used then a show conf will display any non default
configuration. This will include the standard settings for line cards. The "sh conf
all"
will display all the default and non-default configuration.
Hope this helps.
