I spoke with one of Cisco's engineers in RTP and he said he did not have any problem using this on Time Warner and with VoIP set up. As far as why I am using this instead of a cheaper modem, it's because I need to be able to call my brother out of state (who also has the same unit) without worrying about long-distance fees.
