Triward Welfare Assns Federation held a meeting on 9th Jan at Patels Inn., R.T.
Nagar to discuss the issue of rampant misuse of footpaths.
Among the Officials Dr Vedavati, Medical Officer attended the meeting along
with her other Officials/staff. BBMP was represented by Engineers of ward 96,
97 and 98.
Inspector Of Police ( Traffic ) could attend for a few minutes and rushed to
attend to some urgent VVIP needs.
Police from Law and Order did not attend.
Following was the agenda
1. Food vendors on footpath to be cleared.
2. Chappal sales on footpath opposite Syndicate bank, R.T.Nagar, more and
more will follow if this shop is left untouched.
3. Increasing use of footpath by vendors should be curbed.
4. Auto Rikshas parking in “No Parking area” and in front of bus stops
creating chaos when bus arrives. Auto Rikshas park on 6th C of HMT layout, thus
obstructing free movement of vehicles and remain a hurdle at the turning to 7th
cross..
5. As a pilot Project, following proposals by Dr Vedavati were accepted
for action.
a) Footpath clearance drive on 19th January ,2009 at 9AM, Commencing from
Gundu Rao’s house in Rahamat Nagar till Sai Temple in HMT layout via R.T.Nagar
Post Office, Police Station, HMT Ground, bus Depot.
b) Police Traffic wing to regularly keep announcing through loud speaker
regarding clearance of footptath a few days before this dead line.
c) Banners to be made and displayed in prominent places regarding this
movement. Former Corporator Mr Nagaraj has agreed to arrange the same.
d) Regular monitoring of footpath clearance should be made by all-
Citizens, BBMP, Police both Law and Order and Traffic .
BBMP with Health DEPT, Police both Law and Order and Traffic and residents
will participate in footpath clearance drive.
