What you seek is to setup a MTA and configure it's transport map.

A lean box would be what you have so far to run citrusdb, and then install an 
mta.  I use postfix. 
I then configure postfix to only accept mail on the localhost (in this case 
citrusdb), and deliver 
all mail received locally to one of our other mail servers that does larger 
mail jobs.  Besure to 
tell that other mail server about the new server you just made, so that you 
don't have to worry 
about smtp authentication, etc...
