I setup qmail fairly quickly for the box - it works well. Now I just have to figure out the little quirks on Citrusdb.

A lean box would be what you have so far to run citrusdb, and then install an mta. I use postfix. I then configure postfix to only accept mail on the localhost (in this case citrusdb), and deliver all mail received locally to one of our other mail servers that does larger mail jobs.
