I went to Gainsborough.org but the drawings on not on line - they are being displayed around Easter if anyone's going to be in the area. Thanks, Martin.

Tha famous Gainsborough portrait is this: http://www.bestpriceart.com/painting/?image=gainsb18.jpg&tc=cgfa Ann Ford married Philip Thicknesse: the portrait is of Mrs Philip Thicknesse. Evidently Gainsborough had a guittar too. It would be a bit surprising if she was sketched holding a Spanish guitar. There's another good portrait of someone holding a guittar, possibly by Reynolds. I saw it in a second hand book at a time when I wasn't remotely interested in the guittar. ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.ntlworld.com virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software visit www.ntlworld.com/security for more information To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
