Our planned section was because the litter was known to be a large one.
Turned out to be nine pups.  I think the other post was considering a planned
section for a singleton, also a common cause of c-sections.   Our vet was of
the opinion that a common scenario for a large litter is that both mom and
uterus get exhausted after 5-6 puppies and inertia sets in.  Being 45 minutes
from an emergency vet as we are, it just seemed prudent to plan a c-section to
avoid fetal demise.
