Hi Sandra,

As a breeder, I do not mind when someone refers people to me when I am
expecting or have a litter of pups. I also always try to give someone that
I have spoken to on the phone a small list of breeders in their area that
may have pups when I do not have anything available. Of course these are
only the people that I have spent some time chatting with and feel might
make a good home for a pup. If I get an uneasy feeling about someone, I
will try to stress to them to do some reading about the breed and perhaps
attend a show or two to see cavaliers in person. I will usually suggest
they sign on one of the email lists to learn more abut the breed as well
and give them the address of a list and the National page. I think that
most folks in this breed are very good abour referring puppy people if they
do not have puppies available. I only start taking names on a list when I
am sure that one of my girls is in whelp.

As far as trimming a pregnant girl... I almost always do a little bit of
trimming, depending on how much coat the girl has. If there are a lot of
"bloomer" feathers, I trim a good amount of it as I have been told that a
pup can get tangled up in those feathers. I also have found that when I
did not do some trimming, the feathers got so stained that it didn't really
help much to keep them. It is amazing how fast they grow back once their
coat starts coming in again.

Best wishes with your upcoming litter :)

Kindest regard,
Kim
