> First is regarding referrals.
I tell everyone the same thing. NOT to focus on one breeder because there
are so many buyers and so few puppies. I tell them to research and read up
on the breed. Then using their knowledge call many breeders, keeping good
notes. Call the 2 or 3 breeders back that they feel most comfortable with
and tell them they would like to be put on their list. And then to keep in
close contact. I know I get 10 or more calls a day and if I don't hear from
someone for a couple of weeks, they are usually forgotten about. I don't
mind referrals, but I act just as though they are fresh calls, with the
exception that I may not have to do as much educating. And I refer them to
others all the time--but in most cases every breeder is in the same boat as
I am! Waiting lists!
I nearly always end up doing a hygenic trim--almost no choice. My dogs tend
to carry a lot of coat.
