Is he warm enough first off. Check for that first. Then, see if he settles
down if you cuddle him and rub his little tummy. Sometimes they get a
little tummy ache. I think that sometimes they get a little gas bubble
trapped and may need to be burped. Try that. How long has it been since he
last ate? If, by evening, he hasn't nursed again, then try some Esbilac
using a regular Playtex baby bottle. Those puppy bottles that they sell in
the pet store won't work with a cavalier because their mouths are so large.
We have had pups that cried a little and responded to being wrapped in a
towel that we warmed in the dryer for a few minutes and then wrapped the
puppy up and held it upright and burped it. Sometimes the extra warmth and
burping helps. I wish I were there to help. I was going to contact you
anyhow. I will just pass on this information for you to do with as you
wish. While we had Amy's pups, I was contacted by Deidre Garrison who
wanted to buy a puppy. SHe talked to others that I was selling her one. I
then got an email and phone call from STephanie Hart telling me not to sell
her one. You know the story behind Zanna Knight's Barris? Where Dee Unrau
flew him down to the bay area after selling him to someone there....and the
someone picked up up at the airport and took him directly to a dog park with
her other dog? And then, when Barris acted shy and nervous, she called Dee
and said that Dee had 48 hours to get the dog out of her home?? And
Stephanie and Zanna went to pick him up? Well, that was Deidre Garrison.
She is the one who gave Dee 48 hours to get Barris out of her home because
he acted shy immediately after being flown from Canada and then being taken
to a dog park. Also, she told me that she would be home with a puppy full
time, but according to Steph, she is starting to law school in the fall.
Anyhow, I am passing this on to you in the same spirit in which Steph and
Zanna passed it on to me. Let me know how puppy does in the hot towel. I
think that the warm towel, cuddle and burp has helped more than almost
anything else. Myra
