> How CAN one guarantee against hereditary diseases?
You can't guarantee, but you can warranty! I warranty my puppies up to the price paid for the dog. I have done it my entire 26 years in this breed. If one of my Cavaliers needed patellar luxation surgery--I would pay for it (only happened once in 26 years). If one of my Cavaliers needed hip surgery--I would pay for it (never happened yet). If one of my Cavaliers developed juvenile cataracts and needed surgery--I would pay for it (never happened yet). I honestly feel my buyers should get what they are paying for and I think they are paying for a puppy that will live a decently healthy life for a decent number of years. If it doesn't happen, I help them out. I think it is only fair.
