Suze is right. None of us can guarantee that the puppies we place won't show up with an inherited defect. I always explain to my puppy buyers that we do all we can as far as testing, vet checks, etc. before we do a breeding, and breed the healthiest dogs possible but, just as in human babies, there is no guarantee that they will reamin healthy all of their lives. I also explain to them that, just as in humans, dogs have age related problems so as the dog ages, you may run into arthritis, cancer, heart disease etc. People seem to be able to relate better when you equate it to their own species. My mother developed an unexpected heart problem at 75 and I have a nephew who was born deaf. No one else in my family has either of these problems. So health problems can happen no matter what.
