In fact, there are many "off label" things that can be used economically to
treat or prevent different parasites. It is always interesting to hear what
other breeders have found to be effective. Someone (not on this list)
mentioned recently about using fish antibiotics as they were cheaper and
readily available. I haven't checked this out and would have to do a
thorough study of all ingredients before I tried it, but many things are
identical in composition, but marketed at drastically different prices for
different animals.
BTW, the vet's office called today and said that the blob (mummified puppy)
that Esmee passed on Monday was negative for microplasmia so that is one
less worry. Apparently, it was just a mummy puppy for no explainable reason.
