Here is why I want everyone to know my test results and why I want to know
everyone else's test results.

Let's go back and review a little genetics. MVD, HD and many other health
faults are polygenic. Polygenic traits are governed by genotype, NOT
phenotype. Phenotype can be *seen* in a dog. Genotype is a lot harder
since approximately half the dog's geneotype is *hidden*.

Polygenic faults are very hard to lessen when one only uses phenotype--in
fact nearly impossible. That is why two normals for HD will produce a
litter with several dysplastic puppies. This is no SURPRISE! If you knew
more about the genotype of the two normals--you would know why those puppies
ended up dysplastic!!! The only way to lessen the appearance of or
severity of polygenic faults is by knowing as much about what the genotype
of any dog you plan to breed as possible. The ONLY way you get information
about the genotype of that dog is by knowing as much about family members,
ancesters and offspring (if any yet). The MORE information you have
available, the more you know about a particular dog's genotype and the
BETTER job you can do in lessening polygenic faults. The less you know, the
HARDER it is to breed to improve polygenic traits.

Therefore, anyone who does not SHOUT every single test result they have is
doing a great disservice to all breeders-- AND ESPECIALLY TO THE DOGS!
