We don't know better we are just sharing experiences that differ from yours.
Funny you should have appeared to take it so offensively. You made no
indication that your statements were meant to reflect the conditions in
Australia. They were general statements thrown out that were taken (at least
by me and by the other responses by others) as your opinion on testing in
general. Remember the list has an international audiance that is why I
specifically noted "in the USA" on my reply as I by no means have any idea
what the conditions are like in AU nor would I want my post to imply I did.
One thing I have learned from this list is it is a mistake to take for
granted that condtions are the same in other countries or even other areas of
this one. I thought maybe you or others reading the thread were not aware
that in many parts of America these things you listed were not prohibitors in
exams so I was sharing information to put things in a more accurate
perspective for all who may be reading the thread. I noticed others did the
same.

My opinion is that length of time or number of champions is not a permanent
pass which requires all people of lesser tenure or titles to bow down and
worship or carte blanche accept everything said as gospel truth. Though some
people think it should be. You will find some get quite offended if anyone
dares question them. The true leaders in the breed have the patience to
explain over and over until everyone gets it, realizes they don't know
everything, are constantly learning, and constantly sharing with everyone
they can to help. Without asking for anything in return.

The better ones kindly explain things until the person questioning gets it
and usually makes their point, shares knowledge, and earns respect. Those
who have the tenure but not the true talent tend to lash out when questioned
as they sometimes lack the knowledge to back up what they preach or are just
too caught up in their own world to realize times have changed and with
changing trends and technology maybe the proper solutions/answers have
expanded or changed too.

Maybe some just don't have the patience to be leaders in the breed.

There are two types of people with lengthy experience in Cavalier breeding.
Those who have spent years constantly learning and upgrading their knowledge,
always with the best interest of the Cavaliers in the forefront.

And those who keep practicing the same thing they learned the first couple
years over and over with their heads in the sand to changing trends and
technologies. The volume of puppies and flooding of entries at shows slowly
but surely upping the number of champions with their name on them. This type
is more eager to promote numbers of awards, sell high priced dogs on
co-ownerships to keep their name in the forefront, and solicit financed
judging assignments for travel and socializing, then they are the primary
welfare of the breed. These people have let their dogs as a priority slip
behind feeding their ego and maintaining their lifestyle and they now exploit
these same dogs to that end.

The former type gets listened to. The latter, people are finally getting
wise to.

No flames please I am not putting anyone in either of the categories listed.
Only you know which one you truly belong to.

And remember this is coming from someone who has a bit less then 6 years in
the breed so I certainly can't have any clue as to what I am talking about.
Could I.
