I've been lurking around here a little and just had to chime in on this thread. I, too, have a big and little "look-alike" pair....except my pair IS a Saint Bernard and my new Blenheim puppy <grin>. The fact that we ended up with a color-matched set was purely coincidental, BUT, it does crack me up when people ask if she is "his" puppy! Sounds like a VERY similar relationship as well....puppy ADORES the big lug and is constantly licking him or curled up in his tail chewing on a toy. The big guy is the sweetest, most gentle, stable, tolerant dog I've ever known....and I've known quite a few. Guess I need to echo your gratitude that our breeder took the time to meet the family, meet our big guy, watch him with her dogs and didn't just turn us away without looking at the whole picture. Anyway, to finish the introduction we are a family of 4 in northern VT with the aforementioned adult Saint Bernard and almost 16 week old Cavalier puppy as well as a demon cat. Have been "in dogs" in a variety of ways for almost 20 years and are new to Cavaliers. We are, of course, nuts about the breed and head over heels in love with our new addition.
