I have used kiddy wading pools as a whelping box for years and years. I put
it inside an X pen and keep the pen small until they are old enough to crawl
out. Then I bring out the four by four whelping box I use for my greyhounds.
In the wading pool, I put a large bed sheet inside and tuck it in all around
the outside. On top of the bed sheet, I placed several layers of old towels.
This way, I can cover up messes frequently and then change the whole thing
about once a day. It keeps my washing machine humming, but it works out
well. I get the old sheets and towels at thrift stores. They usually only
cost about 1 to 2 dollars each.

One of the best things about using a pool is that you can turn it around
easily to assist Mom if necessary.
