Hello, Alida,
I like and use the Vellus products, but at this time of year when coats
are dry I often do use something like Cindra or the Giborn Oil System.
I'm trying out a new product soon, and will let all know how it works.

I like Ice on Ice for brushing/detangling, but don't use it for
conditioner.

Also, good coat comes from 1) genetics and 2) good food, so at this time
of year you may want to consider something like lipiderm or oil in the
food. Some use fatty acid like lipiderm, some add oil as well (we add
sardine) but think of inside as well as out when trying to work with
improving a dry coat. I'm sure you may well find others on this list
recommending different supplements that they like.
You also want to make sure to keep brushing the dogs so that you get
the dead hair out so the new hair can grow without tangling. I find I
use a very fine comb this time of year to get a lot of that stuff out
first.
