Hi Melissa! Welcome to the list. The first thing you may want to do is have an experienced Cavalier breeder go over your bitch and point out her strengths and weaknesses to you as they relate to the standard. Write it all down and then contact her breeder in Canada and relay everything you wrote to the breeder. Then ask her/him to recommend studs that will not only compliment your bitch's strengths but improve her weaknesses overall and whose pedigree will blend well with hers.
As for pedigree software I have Champions In Windows and I'm quite happy with it but I'd love to hear from others with different software and compare all of the bells and whistles. I hope this helps.
