If she would be considered top quality if she had proper markings I would most certainly keep her. I would prefer to keep too heavily marked rather than too lightly marked. I think I would pick the stud dog that is best for her, without taking markings into strong consideration. If I loved to show more than anything and I was not able to keep many dogs--then I might not keep a really good, but heavily marked tricolor bitch, but otherwise it wouldn't bother me at all. To be honest though, any breeder who is questioning it should hold on to her. As time goes by, if she seems to be exceptionally good despite the markings, there will be no question whether or not to keep her. Or if the markings bother the breeder too much, it would probably be an indication the bitch wasn't quite good enough overall anyhow. Again, there will be no question whether or not to keep her. But so long as there is a question about what to do--hold on to her.
