Sometimes I have them taken off and other times I do not. If I have a
litter that I think is on the small side or one of the puppies I may be
concerned about, I will not take them to the vets and risk exposing them to
what germs may be in the vets office. I would love to learn how to do it
myself properly, not because I worry for myself, but I do worry that a pet
person may not tend to them as they should.

On the pups that I have sent off to new homes with dew claws, I make sure
that I sit down with the people and show them how to trim nails and stress
to them how important it is to keep the dew claw trimmed. So far, I have
not had any problems. With my own dogs, I always keep their nails clipped
and have not had any problems either.

Kindest regards,
Kim
