In 20 years of breeding and 10 hunting titles I have never seen any of the above. I have seen several regular toenails torn off. Why should the dewclaw be anymore of a problem than the rest left on?. Because they dont get worn down and have to be hand trimmed I guess. I cut all my dogs toenails maybe that is why it has never been a issue. Cavalier babies are just so tiny to remove the dewclaws and the hair covers the dew claws so I do not find it aesthetically displeasing. I would like to know if Europeans also remove the dewclaws or is it an American thing? Many of the breeds I saw in Europe were left natural uncropped that we would crop here. I kind of liked it.Chere Workman
