Susan: There are a couple of breeds that require dewclaws: double dewclaws are
required on the hind legs of both Briards and Great Pyrenees dogs. Double means
there are 2...both on each hind leg. Sometimes there are 3, even 4. The Kerry
Blue Terrier standard, on the other hand, considers the presence of a dewclaw
behind a disqualification.
I am one who leaves dewclaws and likes it that way, altho when asked nicely I
remove them for other people's puppies.
