Yes, Jan,

The best vet is not infallible. I took a puppy to the vet for an eye check
because he was tearing a great deal. The vet examined him and said that he
had entropic and it could be fixed surgically! I was really shaken and
decided to take this pup to my usual vet who is farther away but very highly
respected. He was not in so the pup was examined by his partner who said the
pup had dry eye. I have no experience with dry eye but thought it strange
that dry eyes should weep such copious tears.LOL. So I decided to return when
my regular vet was available. He told me that he had clogged tear ducts that
could be fixed surgically. After being told by three different vets three
different things, I decided to find a K9 Ophthalmologist. I did, and she told
me that the pup would most likely grow out of the problem, that the tearing
was caused by his having small tear ducts...not uncommon in puppies...and
that they would most likely grow larger as he grew and take care of the
problem. If, by chance they did not, it could be easily corrected with a
minor surgical procedure.

Subsequently, the pup was sold with the agreement that I would have the
surgery done if it became necessary.

These folk kept in touch and said that his eyes had stopped tearing and all
was well.

All of these vet exams cost me about $250.
