Hello, everyone;

... Mind if I introduce a new subject? Recently we've been going through
Grandma's belongings, and of course talking about many favorite
aspects of her life. One thing that I have enjoyed hearing about is her
traveling. She and Grandpa had traveled around the world, every
continent save for Antarctica - and she kept travel journals of everywhere
they went! I love that sort of thing, and although my travels are mostly in
the USA these days (I think I've been in 20 states.), and I'd like to offer a
'family member' the opportunity for some adventure along those lines. To
do that I've come up with what I hope will be a fun idea, and I'd love
some input from my list friends!

I have "Regal" the Beanie Baby Cavalier (only *mine* has the Blenheim
lozenge on her head!) and I was thinking that I'd take her to Florida (via
the La$ Vega$ airport) next month when a friend and I get away for
some R&R. I was planning on taking some photographs of "Traveler"
(and maybe even one with me in it!) as we explore Disneyworld, Epcot,
Gatorland, Kennedy Space Center, etc; and then sometime during our
last day I wanted to pass her on to a likely-looking and sounding family
that I'll guess to be a foreign guest to the USA. I would explain the
situation, and ask if they'd like to take Traveler with them, take photos
of her in another country (their home, or any other place they are
traveling), send the photographs to me, and then pass her on to some
other travelers. It would be fun to see just how many places she could
go to, and how long her journey might be! Maybe it'd never end!!

I was thinking that if I could find one of those "shrinky-dink" dog tags I
could write the message and webpage address on it, and affix it to
Traveler so that information wouldn't get lost. Maybe I could even
laminate a few "business cards" with the same information, and hope
that would get passed along with Traveler.

What do you all think? Have any of you ever done something like that? I
think it'd be fun, and would love to take the risk that others would think it
a fun way to bring our global community closer! Being the shy, quiet,
<ahem> reserved person that I am, I'm pretty sure I could approach a
total stranger to ask if they'd want to participate, and then hope they
could do the same thing. Any ideas there?

cheers,
Sandra
