Shiena, Renee and Myra and others I posted a question to the list last fall after having attened a George Alston seminar in which he insisted that we stack our Cavaliers. Privately, he acknowledged to me and to Renee that those of us who show Cavaliers have a tough job to do because, in his words, we have to determine in advance whether or not the judge to whom we are showing on any given day prefers hand stacking on the floor or natural stacking on the floor. As any of you who have been paying attention knows, he advocates hand stacking every breed on the floor.
The experience of showing our dogs (independently of what George Alston advocates) totally confused me, as last fall was my first year showing my two show quality boys. I have always heard that Cavaliers should be stacked naturally, but I ended up stacking them both ways, never feeling very comfortable stacking them on my knees but sometimes doing it anyway that way because that's the way most of the pros were doing it -- and winning points! And some of those whom I observed doing this were well versed in showing, even judging Cavaliers. I won't do it again next year!
