The progressive is one show. Sometimes the best dog does win. Veronica can tell you how much I love the Telvara dogs and I'm sure the Telvara dog deserved to win, I certainly would be the first to tell you how good some of the Telvara dogs are. But this is ONE show. Go browse infodog for a bit and look at more show results. Look at some of the poor quality Cavaliers getting titles that were shown unsuccessfully by the owner then oops suddenly finished on a pro. Amazing how much they suddenly became worthy winners. The only thing that a pro handler brings to the table is the ability to win. They do nothing for the breed, in fact most could care less if its a Cavalier or a Terrier or a Hound dog as long as they get the fee what is on the other end of the leash means nothing to them. Why should we discourage use of pro handlers? Because they do NOTHING that is good for the breed and several things that are detrimental and contrary to the standard, which most of them have probably never even read.
