Hello,
I'm certainly not a "groomer" however I do use baby powder in place of a
bath (sometimes) or if the coat seems a bit oily.
I never use chalk because it gives the white a flat look..the color is to be
pearly white.
I shake the powder in and brush it out.

I was told ages ago that some dogs stain because they have mites..the white
hair will turn pink.
Some stain because they lick for no apparent reason..the white hair turns
pink.
Some stain due to a chemical reaction..could be due to sitting in a metal
crate..the metal has a reaction to the dog and cause the hair to turn pink
or yellow.
